So you're going to retire Jay & Bob before they get stale, but that doesn't mean you can't come up with a WHOLE NEW recurring presence for your future films. I say that you make Lynch's Paranoid Minority Panel comic guy the new J&SB. Now now, here me out. I see him as popping up in a different occupation in each film. In Clerks 2, he could be the Paranoid Entemmann's delivery guy, in Mallrats 2, he could be the Paranoid Hickory Farms sampler guy. And on the Clerks show, he could have a different job every week (Paranoid paper delivery boy, Paranoid pizza delivery, Paranoid porn star). I see him as the ViewAskew version of Poor Old Gill, the inept, self-doubting old employee on The Simpsons...only with a greater emphasis on Paranoia. I think this character could really take off. You could build an empire around him. There could be a Paranoid Guy's Secret Stash, a Paranoid Guy Oni Press comic mini-series, Paranoid Guy action figures...it's a friggin' GOLD MINE you're standing on here! Why, in 2006 when a bankrupt Kevin Williamson decides to crank out Scream: S10, you could thrill unsuspecting audiences with a quick cameo by Paranoid Guy...and imagine how paranoid he'll be with a killer on the loose and David Arquette on the set! Lynch would be up for it. This whole Muppet thing could go either way, so he'd have this to fall back on. He'd become a pop icon, and that would help to quelch his debilitating case of chin-envy. So I think we may have something here. You chew on it, let me know what you think.
