apart from bangkok. that place costs a bomb.

see, WE aren't going to have a few new people around here, kevin is. it's his board, it's his place, we just post every now and then, it's not ours. he has a system to deal with people who don't follow the rules. ben does a good job. all that will be achieved by posting a reminder to stay on topic to an off topic post is to create another off-topic post.

i really don't mind the odd off topic, unreplied, post from a newbie. nothing worse than posting on a board for the first time than finding a terse 'don't post this' message there when you get back. well, finding your nadgers hanging on the mouse would be worse, but you know what i'm getting at. the only pressure i'd rather see is from the bosses here, people respect that sort of thing from a boss, not from a peer. unles it IS me saying to you 'hey, a bit off topic there turt, you better watch it *ha ha ha*', but you know thats nowhere close to the kinds of messages posted.
still, it's not really any of my concern. i don't post to off-topic and i don't reply to them. i'm holding up my side of the bargain.

if there was a sign that said 'no bunnies at keyboards' i would keep mine in the draw. if someone had missed the sign, i'd point the sign out to them. BUT... there aren't 600 people registered to work in my office, its too small. if we DID have that many people in such a confined space, i think a tannoy announcement to the effect of 'remember, no bunnies at keyboards...' would be better. assuming bunnies could type. which they can't.
as for the last bit - yes, email is better. but donuts are best.
