: ...and simply telling them how it is. Telling a newbie that off topic stuff is frowned upon here isn't jumping down their throat. It's simply letting them know the deal. If you find that rude, then you probably won't fit in here anyway. You've got to be able to handle some pretty foul stuff to be comfortable hanging around the land of View Askew. If a little comment about being off topic bothers someone then just wait 'till MickCollins shows up. (Or any of a number of particularly bitter guys who frequent this place, including one or two of the Men in Red.) Face it, this isn't Mr. Rogers' neighborhood (I doubt Mr Rogers ever banned anyone from his place!), and no matter how much you plead with people to be Miss Manners, it just ain't gonna happen. Trust me, I tried it. And so have a couple dozen other folks, too.
: As long as it's not horribly offensive, then don't worry about it. Personally, I'd rather be warned about it first, than have one of my posts be suddenly and unceremoniously deleted without any idea as to why.
: And, as people keep mentioning, Toads is the official board police (if there is such a thing) so if he's got a problem with Smalls, Rugmuncher, myself, or any of the other folks who see fit to give the newbies a bit of a warning, then Toads will deal with it himself. If he doesn't want our posts on the board then he'll delete them.
