First of all sorry about the Subject, but I just wanted to make sure that you'd read this.
I'll start off by saying that I have been following your films since Clerks first came out. I fit the typical fan mold, I am a horney 18 year old male. I felt that Clerks was great and that Mall Rats wasn't all that bad (except for the pathetic editing for the ABC broadcast, but I won't go there) and then came Chasing Amy. Chasing Amy proved that you have what it takes to stick in the movie business. It is a serious film, yet it has humorous undertones that keep schmucks like me drawn in. And then came Dogma...
Dogma just tops it all. Dogma shows how you have matured as a filmmaker, and it was the most amazing film that I have ever seen. Dogma is definatly the best movie that I have ever seen. It blows away my friends' low budget porn films by far (sorry Ted). I have viewed Dogma 3 times now and I am ready to give you my reactions and those of the others in the theraters. Here goes:
From the beggining on the laughs never seemed to cease. I noticed a reference and want you to confirm it. Was the character Rufus a reference to Rufus from the Bill and Ted's movies? I thought so. I was very happy to be one off the handfull of people that got alot of the little cross-references from your other movies. Althoigh it was also great to notice that there was a lot of new exposure to your movies. At this time I would like to thank the radical Christians for providing publicity for the movie.
Before going to see the film on Friday, a bunch of us from the University of Miami cut classes to have a film marithon in my dorm room. We watched Clerks, Mall Rats, and Chasing Amy before piling in to our cars to make it to the theraters before they sold out. And they did.
Well, I've taken up enough of your time. I will echo the cries for buddy-christ merchandise, especially keychains. Anyway, thank you for all that you do and I'll name my first born after you. I am retracting that last statement, my girlfriend hit me after I typed it. Anyway, good luck and continued sucess!
