I looked on the board for the past few days, and I didn't see anything resembling this question, so:

Am I wrong in thinking that the name Bartleby could be a reference to a Herman Melville (I believe - I could be wrong) story called 'Bartleby the Scrivner?' There are just some very interesting parallels if that is so.

And now for the gushing:

I really enjoyed Dogma. I'm not Catholic - I come from one of the other much-mocked groups - Southern Baptists. But I wasn't offended, even though there were some points that really hit me. I can admit my own faults and the faults of my church.
I thought that God and the question of faith were very well handled. I really appreciated that Kevin dealt with the nature of God by showing a loving, caring God, but remembering that He/She is also wrathful.
And, just to throw in my two cents on the numbers - I went to an early afternoon showing (1:30) Friday, so the audience was very small. It was also rather diverse (an older couple was sitting in front of my roommate and I). And we were all laughing throughout most of the film - when our jaws weren't dropped in shock, that is.
Good news is that there were no protesters in Greensboro, North Carolina. At least, there weren't at my theater at 1:30 in the afternoon.
