Personally, I don't think they went to Heaven or Hell. I think they were blinked out of existence. The entire point of the story was that they could not re-enter Heaven because if they were to do so God would be proven fallible and all of creation would blink out of existance. God allowing them back in would be God admitting that she was wrong, basically, which would be worse.
HOWEVER, I must add that it could all have been part of the ineffable plan, which might very well include allowing them back in. But you're getting into some tricky theological (and logical) territory there.
