Went tonight to one of the two theaters showing the flick here in Madison. About 90% of the seats were filled for the 7pm show. The audience loved it, lots of laughs and applause throughout; the Wisconsin jokes went over especially well. The audience range was broad as well; many older people in the audience (who laughed a LOT), not merely the teenage/twentysomething crowd I expected (most of my fellow students were probably drinking after the Badger win this afternoon).
I also attended the screening here at the University of WI on Tuesday; people started lining up at 5pm for the 7:30 show. The theater's capacity is 1500, and a good 500 or so didn't even get in. This movie was definitely more popular than any I've seen screened here before. That screening went over tremendously well. HUGE applause and laughter starting from the beginning set of disclaimers and continued throughout the movie. I heard many of the people leaving the theater saying that they wanted to see the movie in the theater again as well. I agreed wholeheartedly.
Thanks for this funny and intelligent movie and congrats on what will surely be a box-office success.
