I caught a showing of Dogma earlier this afternoon, since I'm dirt poor. Anyways, this was a 1:25 showing and the place was plenty filled. It was not a packed house by any means, but there were plenty of bodies.

Reaction was astounding. I took my cousin to see the film and this was his introduction to the whole "world" of Smith films. Every now and again I'd look over at him and he was having a great time.

Being naturally observant I noticed that everyone in viewing range was enjoying themselves, and laughter rang throughout.

I think the biggest compliment would be that before the film started there were quite a few rowdy kids in there acting like primates...but when the movie started they settled down and paid strict attention to what was happening on-screen.

After the film, as we walked out, everyone was remarking in some way or other about it. Some people liked the religious aspects, some liked Jay and Silent Bob, one like Ben Affleck's ass...you get the idea.

All in all, I'd say it's the most responsive crowd I've seen in a theater in a long time, and given the cinema was in Augusta, GA, where I'd have previously assumed no one knew what Kevin Smith was, I'd call it an accomplishment.

Sincerely,
Jim Ray
