: 2. Too many inside jokes: from Grant Hicks, to Walt and Steve-Dave, to the "Step aside, Red", while I laughed, the casual viewer couldn't really get into the movie. In fact, I found myself and my friend to be the only ones laughing in many instances during the film.

I actually think this has been one of Kevin's strengths in the films. He rewards fans with these little extras, but it doesn't take away from the flick if you are a casual fan.

It's not only the lines that refer to his own movies, but also the homages he does to other flicks as well. I guarentee most people have no idea why the line "no ticket" is so funny to some people, but for those people who know, it's a great little nod.

Kevin's "easter eggs" are part of his writings charms. I happened to be talking to the local film reviewer (who is actually the reviewer for Gannett news services) and mentioned some of these things to him. He asked me to specifiy some and I mentioned the bump of the head in "rats" and the "no ticket" line in Dogma. It was funny to see him finally "get" these things and why they were important to some of Kevin's fans.
