: Got the numbers from last night. Everyone's pleased. The film ain't no 'Pokemon' (hell, what is?), but it did well. Final numbers on Tuesday, of course.
It's doing well all across the country, apparently. Here in Baton Rouge, LA (just a bit west of the buckle fo the Bible Belt)I went to the 7:10 show. It wasn't sold out, but it had a helluve big crowd there. It was also in the biggest theater in the cineplex we had it at. I do wish it had been at the theater with the stadium seating and the better sound system (damn you, UA!!!). Still, I finally got to see the movie I've been waiting for over a year to see. And man, it was worth it.
: But this was never about numbers anyway. It was always about celebrating the faith and (hopefully) entertaining a crowd in the process. Largely, it would seem, mission accomplished.
Very true. It's been a long time since I've seen a movie that so intellectually explored the issue of faith while remaining entertaining.
The big surprise to me was that there weren't any bible-thumpers out here last night (This is coming from a Catholic, BTW), or anything to speak of in terms of a demonstration. Y'know, it's the fanatics out there that put a bad name on anything. Most Catholics out there (myself included) probably find Donohue and his ilk to be yet another political group trying to do anything to get their message across. Too bad they chose this film to spread their "message."
: I'll be on Larry King Live on Monday. Rock and I taped Charlie Rose yesterday, but I'm not sure when it's running. And 'Dogma' is playing somewhere near you. Take someone you love and respect to see it. Then go see 'Bond' next week. And if 'Bond' is sold out, go see 'Dogma' again.
: And again. And again. (As I've mentioned - I got a kid I'm going to have to put through college.)
: Thanks, all, for the past and continued support. It would seem our fourth flick is going to outgross all our other flicks combined, which - when you remove the dollar figure - means more audiences are being exposed to View Askew. I'm glad it was with this film, and to that, I have one more thanks to give...
: Thanks, God.
Yet another reason why you are the Man. Well... Stan Lee's the Man, but you're the Man too. Congratulations on the success on this film, Kevin. After the year of crap you've gone through to get this film out there, you've earned it.
