What an awe-inspiring comedy. I have been a longtime fan of Kevin Smith, and to tell the truth, I had my doubts about "Dogma." I had read several reviews where people said that the dialogue rambled and that it was somewhat boring. I did not see this to be the case. I thought it was quite the achievement, a perfect balance of hilarious scatlalogical humor and religious seriousness that never ceases to be both interesting and compelling.
The cast is quite excellent, with Affleck and Lee leading the pack. I loved the way Lee's character was presented, the music and everything. It was so slick and refined. Affleck, I loved his sarcasm (his monologue in the Mooby boardroom scene is teriffic), but his turn towards the "dark side" is where his performance really shines.
Congratulations, Kevin. This movie is no doubt going to make a truckload of money, not only because it appeals to your fans, because on some level, most can relate to the topic of questioning faith.
And can't wait for the flick that Jay and Silent Bob are going to return in. That was the biggest surprise of the flick.
