So I managed to weasel myself into the DC Premiere Magazine Advance Screening of Dogma last night - held at the Cineplex Odeon, Wisconsin Avenue. I got into an already long line about a half an hour before showtime and soon after the line began to make it's way out the door and down the street. Funniest moment in line - a frantic mother and her young daughter running over to the mostly adult line and asking if it was for 'Pokemon'.
The screening had apprently set aside any empty seats for first come first serve members of the Washington DC Film Society and it was mentioned that right before the screening that around 150 people had been turned away.
After a brief thank you to Lions Gate and soundtrack giveaways the film began. Crowd reaction was very good.. lots of laughing so loud that it dorwned out lines and lots of clapping. This was a positive sign to me for two reasons - the crowd was a good mix of young and old and - this was probably the most non-biased crowd that I had see the film with to date.
About 20% stayed behind for the full credits - and the print contained the final version of the credits including a mention of this very website, a nice longer plug for the Stash, and the "Jay and Silent Bob will return in...."
Which brings up a question.. I don't believe anyone on here has revealed what Jay and Bob will be in next.. anyone else for keeping that a secret until tomorrow? Anyone else seen it revealed already (AICN, DH..)? Or am I just slow (hey I had to spend a day tying up a damn movie theater list ok)
Speaking of the Stash, check back later today for some new, cool items that I personally believe are unique and beyond the usual "Hats, etc...) (See moviephone.com's review of the Dogma website)
