I agree, this Joe Baltake is an asshole. I was just about to post something about him but you beat me to the punch Chiusano, so I'll just relpy to yours. I work near Sac and read the review on my lunch break. It pissed me off, not because it was a negative review but because of the hate that come across from Baltake's words towards the film and Kevin Himself, I quote his review....."Yes, this film is as tiresome as it sounds, but its real offense is not its hip air toward religion but that it simply isn't funny. What is amusing is that the film is so long (a self-important 125 minutes) and Smith has filmed it - inexplicably - in a wide-screen format. Maybe he wants a letter boxed edition of his movie when it hits video in three or four months. Whatever the reason, Dogma is the junkiest-looking wide-screen movie within memory."
What a fuck! His review of the film consists of telling the plot for about four paragraphs then saying the film just wasn't funny. Damn dude you could of said that in one paragraph. Any film is a daunting task and something that takes a lot of work and skill, so say that Kevin made a ugly looking film is just mean. It seems this guy has something against Kevin not just Dogma. I put a link below to send a comment to the Bee newspaper, I think we all should tell them that Joe Baltake is an Asshole and needs to stop doing reviews. Support Kevin and Dogma whenever you can, it's the right thing to do!
