Been there. It's an all too common, maybe natural if somewhat fucked up reaction we men have when we build up the object of our affections in our pysche, ignoring certain things, or thinking that 'yeah I've dealt with that now', only to find out that WOAH I'm not quite as cool with this as I thought...
I'm gonna take the longer, more philosophical view on this...
To paraphrase a movie, 'If you puke and he runs, it was never meant to be.'
Yeah it hurts, but please sit down and sort it all out with him - find out why he's so freaked.
